About the Program
In veterinary medicine, unlike human medicine, internship programs are optional. The vast majority of veterinary students go directly into private practice after graduating from school. Some graduates choose to pursue additional education and experience by entering an internship program.
The Internship Program offers recent veterinary graduates the opportunity to work with our staff and experience equine veterinary medicine. Veterinary interns are fully licensed veterinarians who choose to spend one year working in an educational setting.
In our case we hope our interns will leave having had a good balance of experience in a busy general practice and specialty training by our board certified veterinary surgeon. Dr. Wilson will also help manage the medical care of our critical patients, facilitate the day-to-day operations of the clinic and assist with the daily appointment and emergency caseload.
We are fortunate to have had Dr. Wilson spend quite a bit of time with Austin Equine while she was a veterinary student. We have gotten to know her well, and have been very impressed by her knowledge and skills. Our goal is to help enhance her education and give her critical experience in sport horse practice under the tutelage of our experienced veterinary team.
So if you see Dr. Wilson, please tell her hello and give her a warm welcome into our challenging and exciting field!
